In Transit, San Fransisco

I can’t seem to stop myself from taking pictures while in transit. It’s a sickness, really.

Career Contentment

Today I experienced perhaps the most profound moment of my professional career. I can’t say anymore right now, but I’m very excited about the opportunities I’ve had this past year and can finally ask the question:

Does it get any better than this?

Sunshine in Northern California

We just returned from the El Cerrito farmer’s market, where vibrant, juicy oranges are sold at every stand. This is the land of sunshine and citrus fruits, my friends. Sunshine and citrus fruits.

Actually you may have heard that it’s been uncharacteristically raining in the Bay Area for months now; we even heard about it on Chicago Public Radio the day before we flew out here. So I guess we got lucky, because today, magically, the sun came out for us.

This is only the second time I’ve been to California in over five years, but it’s painful everytime I return. I love California from my core. It’s where I was born, where I spoke my first words, went to my first school, first played in the sand. Being here feels so good, so right. Like home.

Anyway, we’re out here, staying with former Chicagoans, Amanda and Milan. In a few minutes we’re going to take a walk around the bay. And I think Milan wants to show us the best traffic jams in the Bay Area -- I hear there’s a good one around that corner. And that one. And oh, that one too.

Yup. Sunshine, citrus fruits, and traffic jams.

Overheard Conversation on Lost

Girl A: I don’t usually go for hairy guys, but damn, Matthew Fox is aaaaall goooood to me.

Girl B: Have you seen the episode where he’s in the shower?

Girl A: Nooooo!

Girl B: Mmm-hm.

Girl A: Are you freakin’ kidding me!?

Girl B: Nope.

Girl A: Ohhh. Hubba, hubbaaaaa…

Girl B: But the scene is only about three seconds long.

Girl A: So? I have Pause!
