Time to take a break from home-reno posts to bring you a special message from the Golden Globe Awards’ fashion panel of one.
I noted thirteen extraordinary looks on the red carpet tonight. I narrowed them down to my top three: Danai Gurira, Sofia Carson, and Allison Janney.
Danai Gurira. This Rodarte dress really needs to be seen from multiple angles to be appreciated fully. The shoulder bow was a sculpture in itself, and the fiery, red-on-orange, flocked pattern was mesmerizing in all the right ways. She finished it off with simple jewelry, and, smartly, a hair accessory on the opposite side as the shoulder bow.
Sofia Carson. Her Giambattista Valli dress was a little odd but so good. It seems like Carson knows how to push fashion far enough to be edgy but hold back enough to be palatable. This was absolutely my favorite look of the night, from top to bottom. She’s a match for some of my favorite style stars, like Emma Stone and Zendaya, who have red carpet fashion down to a science.
Allison Janney. This woman. I tell ya. Fifty-nine years old and just gets it. She is flawless every time. Her style is impeccable and so well-cultivated. Should I go on? I’ll conclude by pointing out that Christian Siriano designed a fantastic gown, one that is feminine, elegant, and yet, delightful. The necklace by David Webb took it up another notch, also.
